Mother's Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day despite feeling under the weather.

First of all, my thoughtful children sent me flowers and ice cream. Definitely the way to my heart. Norm carried on a family tradition that he started when the kids were small: he bought flowers and vegetable plants and planted them in our containers on the deck. Mother's Day just wouldn't be the same without this sweet act of service.

Then, Norm took me on his run. I got to watch him run away from me while I strolled. I had to convince him to even let me do that much. My calf was fine during this leisurely walk and it felt good to be out. I was jealous of Norm, though, but also quite proud of him. He's doing so well. I can't wait until my training can resume. We've never run together before and I'm looking forward to it.

I had such a nice talk with both Kate and Jeff. We are so blessed to have these two intelligent, interesting people in our lives. It isn't easy to have them live far away although they both have opened up new places to us. We so enjoyed visiting Kate in Missouri and Jeff in Montana. We've liked seeing more of Idaho and we look forward to seeing Pennsylvania. I can't help hoping that someday when they both settle down we will be nearer to each other.

In the meantime...I have heard that baby boomers who are now empty nesters have resorted to scheduling their dogs' time now that they no longer can schedule their children's time.

Doggie soccer? Canine play practice? What do you think girls?

P.S.: Home sick today. Allergic reaction to something plus a sinus infection AGAIN!!! Boo!! State testing starts Wednesday.

  1. The dogs don't look like they want to have a play date. Maybe just an extra meal.

  2. So sorry you are feeling under the weather but very happy to read that you had a great Mothers Day. Guess what? I'm trying to set up my own blog to document my travels! I leave on Friday, assuming I can actually pull together the million and one last minute things I need to do before I leave. Wish me luck! P.S. Now that I've started setting up the blog it is forcing me to sign this as Judi and Toby. Kind of strange but I'm sure you don't mind hearing from my canine companion as well!
